Cocktail shakers busted out their best moves at Wash Ave gastro pub Hughes Hangar at the Inspired Bartender cocktail competition. The brand’s mixologists tracked down the best libation-makers all over the nation for city taste-offs using Bombay Sapphire’s Aquamarie Blue gin. At stake for the competitors: a spot in the national finals in Las Vegas and a spread in GQ magazine. After the Houston Burlesque Revue put on a rather saucy performance, the judges graded a single gin drink from 20 local bartenders like Claire Sprouse from Beaver’s, who advanced to the final round last year. This year’s winning concoction went to Anvil’s Alex Gregg for his Zydeco Fiddle, with ginger beer, lemon, apricot brandy, celery bitters and a bacon-wrapped carrot garnish. Cheers!
